Learning Target: 
What are the goals of the scientific enterprise?
What is the difference between hypothesis and a theory?
What are the key steps required by a scientific investigation?
What are the principal advantages of the scientific approach?

Agenda:

Students will watch and take notes. We will discuss afterward and begin to determine what Chapter 2 is all about. "The Research Enterprise in Psychology" is a foundation of understanding psychology.
2. We will look at the PsykTrek cd-rom and cover Chapter 2. The cd-rom has interactive lessons, simulations and a quiz and test. Mr. Duez will pull names to have students attempt the questions at the end.

TEST on Chapter 1

After the test students can read Chapter 2 and begin to take notes and prepare for it.

For the rest of the week, we'll be working on Chapter 2 and preparing for the test after Labor Day.

Quiz for Chapter 2 will be on Tuesday after Labor Day (next week).
Test for Chapter 2 is on Thursday after Labor Day (next week).

1. Do Now: Write an explanation in your notes:
"Explain the following broad approaches:
Biological 
Behavioral
Cognitive
Humanistic
Psychoanalytic
Sociocultural?"

The AP Exam often poses questions that ask students to examine problems using these multiple approaches.
2. Pass out CD-ROMS that Mr. Duez created to aid in studying for the semester.
3. Review the quiz results from Chapter 1.
4. Notes on Chapter 1 and review of the chapter.
Focus on the waves or approaches of Psychology.

Sept 12th - Sept 16 - Spirit Week (Dress-Up Days & Class Competitions), Ticket Sales Continue at $30
           Martian Monday - Dress up like an alien
           Nerd Tuesday - Dress up like an extremely studious student
           Star Wednesday - Dress up like your favorite star (celebrity)
           Out of This World Thursday - Dress up crazy mix-match, an "out there" kind of look
           School Spirit / Favorite Friday - Wear school colors and/or dress like your favorite teacher!

Wednesday, Sept 14th - Coronation Practice for Court Nominees
Thursday, Sept 15th - Pep Rally in the Big Gym at 6 with 9th-11th Coronation
Friday, Sept 16th - Homecoming Game vs. La Porte at 7:30pm (Also come see our Choir perform the Star Spangled Banner & Senior Coronation during half-time)
Saturday, Sept 17th - Homecoming Dance at AHS Cafeteria 7-11pm
We can't wait to see everyone's Eagle Spirit for the Dress-up Days and at the Game!

1. Students will pick up the article for chapter 1 regarding "Nature vs. Nurture." They will have 15 minutes to read it and follow the directions.
2. We will sit in a circle and discuss the article and the principle of "Nature vs. Nuture." 20 minutes
3. Remainder of the period will focus on Notes from Chapter 1

Reading Quiz is Friday.
